Africa-Press – Ghana. Evans Kyekyeku Oppong, a Returnee, who decided to offer his 11-year-old daughter for money ritual at Oyibi Kom has been remanded into police custody by an Accra District Court.

Oppong, a 47-year-old machine Operator, charged with preparation to commit crime to wit murder, has had his plea reserved by the Court presided over by Ms Ama Adomako Kwakye.

Accused person is expected to reappear on June 20.

Prosecuting Police Detective Inspector Richard Amoah prayed the Court to remand the accused person pending further investigations.

Narrating the facts of the case, Inspector Amoah said Oppong is the father of the victim aged 11 and he has been living in Holland for many years.

Accused however relocated to Ghana a year ago.

In the month of May, this year, Oppong discussed with a friend known as Kwame that he was facing financial difficulties.

Prosecution said Kwame suggested that Oppong would need spiritual cleansing to turn things around for him.

Prosecution said Kwame later introduced Oppong to one Nana Fosu aka Nana K.

K to assist him see a spiritualist for help.

It said on May 29, 2022, Nana Fosu took Oppong to Nana Adu Boafo junior, who is a spiritualist and a herbal practitioner in Oyibi Kom, for money rituals.

Nana Adu Boafo agreed to do the money rituals for Oppong, and he directed him to buy a live python from someone in Kasoa to be used for the money rituals.

Prosecution said however, Oppong later informed the Spiritualist that he was afraid of snakes as such he would come to him for further discussions on what to do.

It said the Oppong later had discussions with the Spiritualist when the accused suggested human sacrifice for the money rituals.

Prosecution said the spiritualist feigned interest and told Oppong to furnish him with the date of births of his last two children to enable him to determine which one would be suitable for the sacrifice.

It said on May 31, 2022, Prosecution said Oppong rang the victim’s mother to confirm the day the victim was born.

Oppong also told the victim’s mother that he would pick up the victim to be taken to a friend who had returned from abroad for measurements so that a dress would be sown for her.

It said Oppong furnished the spiritualist with the date of birth of the victim as requested.

The spiritualist then alerted the Oyibi Police about the intended human sacrifice and urged him to play along with the accused so he (accused) could be arrested when Oppong produced the victim for the sacrifice.

Prosecution said the spiritualist later informed Oppong that he had spiritually checked on the dates of births of the two children and that the victim would be suitable for the sacrifice.

The Spiritualist instructed Oppong to bring the victim to his herbal centre in the morning of June 3, 2022.

The same day, Oppong rang his elder brother to release his car to enable him to visit a herbal centre for treatment as a result of a car accident he had recently.

Prosecution said that morning, at about 0800, the elder brother of Oppong released his car to his son to go and pick the accused to the herbal centre.

On their way to the herbal centre, they picked the victim at Amasaman.

Prosecution said at a spot at Oyibi, Oppong asked the driver to wait for him and he (Oppong) took over the driving.

Oppong later stopped and bought three “Ghana Must Go” and two bottles of Schnapps.

The Prosecution said Oppong arrived at the Herbal centre with the victim and the Spiritualist asked him to sit at the Hall while Oppong was asked to change his clothing on the compound and given a white calico to tie around his waist.

Oppong was then given some concoctions to bathe.

In the process, the Spiritualist called in the Oyibi Police to arrest Oppong and the victim was rescued.
