Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Daniel McKorley, Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, has called on Ghanaians to uphold the enduring values of communal living, generosity, and tradition exemplified by the Homowo festival of the Ga people.

In a reflection shared after joining the Sempe Mantse Nii Adote Otintor II and the Sempe Traditional Council in the celebration, Mr. McKorley described Homowo as more than a festival, saying it is a “homecoming and a sacred time to honour heritage and express gratitude.”

He told: “What I witnessed was a season of vibrant celebrations, heartfelt reunions, and deeply rooted traditions.”

The business mogul said beyond the drumming, dancing, and shared meals, this year’s celebration reminded him of the enduring values that binded the Ga people together, adding that, they were values that must be carried forward even in the fast-changing world.

Mr. McKorley emphasised that for the Ga people, Homowo represents joy, culture in its purest form, and a reminder of the importance of staying connected to one’s roots.

“This Homowo season, may we all embrace its spirit, not just as a celebration, but as a call to cherish our roots, strengthen our bonds, and keep our culture alive,” he said.

The Homowo festival, celebrated annually by the Ga people of Greater Accra, symbolises victory over hunger and serves as a period of thanksgiving, unity and renewal.
