Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister has inaugurated the re-constituted Bono Regional Coordinating Council, with a task to various Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) to prioritise the holistic development of the region, aligned with the government’s ‘reset’ agenda.

He asked them to ensure that their decisions always corresponded to the development of aspirations of the region, urging the personnel of the Assemblies to cooperate with and support the chief executives in that regard.

The council members comprised of the MDCEs, Presiding Members, representatives of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Heads of Departments and Agencies and the Regional Coordinating Director as required by the Local Governance Act, 2016, Act 936.

They were tasked to coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the work of the various Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the region.

Speaking at a short ceremony which coincided with the maiden meeting of the council in Sunyani, asked the MDCEs to ensure that their development processes aligned with the government’s “Reset Agenda”.

He advised them to collaborate effectively with stakeholders in turning round the economic prospects of the region, saying the “reset agenda” required holistic and inclusive development processes, and urged the assemblies to do more to improve the standard of living of the people in their respective areas.

Mr Akwaboa said: “In view of this we are to work closely with the appropriate authorities to ensure that our beloved region equally benefits from the sharing of the national cake” and implored the people to bury their political affiliations and support the progressive development of the region.

He also urged stakeholders and the local development partners to renew their commitment to service, accountability, and innovation in local governance, saying, “the good people of Bono look to us to drive progress, unity, prosperity, and sustainable development.”

“With diligence and partnership, we will continue to make the Bono Region a model of effective governance and inclusive development,” Mr Akwaboa added.
