Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Lawrence Agyinsam, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo Hemang–Lower Denkyira Constituency, has appealed to the Government to expedite the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital project at Twifo Hemang.
Mr Agyinsam said the construction of the hospital, which was initiated by the previous administration, was about 75 per cent complete and required urgent attention to ensure its completion.
He noted that the absence of a district hospital had placed immense pressure on existing health facilities and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds within the constituency.
The MP made the appeal at an awards ceremony he organised to honour 10 health professionals in the constituency for their dedication and service.
The awardees received television sets and refrigerators.
Mr Patrick Fiable, the District Chief Executive for Twifo Hemang–Lower Denkyira, acknowledged the increasing strain on health centres in the district due to the growing population.
He assured residents that efforts were underway to address the challenges and fast-track the completion of the Agenda 111 district hospital.
Mr Daniel Baah, the District Health Director, also highlighted critical challenges confronting the district’s health sector.
He mentioned the lack of a district hospital and the rising incidence of teenage pregnancy, which he attributed partly to the activities of commercial motorcycle riders, popularly known as “okada”.
