Nana B dismisses vote buying allegation against NPP in Ejisu by-election

Africa-Press – Ghana. National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) has dismissed the vote-buying allegation made against the NPP in the Ejisu by-election.

He says no member of the party is influencing voters to cast their ballots in particular ways.

“I have been here, I have not seen anybody influencing anyone, so those accusations are baseless,” he told journalists in Ejisu.

The Electoral Commission (EC) had said its attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media depicting an alleged bribery at one of the Polling Stations at the ongoing Ejisu Constituency By-Elections.

The commission says the Polling Station has been identified as the Fumesua Pentecost Church Polling Station with Polling Station Code F311503.

The video shows a gentleman approaching the table and dropping an envelope on the table manned by the Presiding Officer and Ballot Issuer.

“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place.

“The Commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff. The Commission will not countenance acts which cast a slur on the integrity of the institution and will not hesitate to sanction its officials who violate its laws.

“The report on the incident will be made available to the public in due course,” a statement issued by Deputy Chairman, Operations, Samule Tettey said.
