NDC Volta Region Honors Late Comrade Nicholas Aklorbortu

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Volta Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has paid tribute to the late Mr Nicholas Aklorbortu, for his remarkable and dedicated services delivered to the party.

The NDC described Mr Aklorbortu as a politician with a conscience who left an indelible mark on the entire party and the communities, with his passing as a loss, while his great legacy would continue to live on to inspire members.

In a tribute dated December 19, signed by Mr Kafui Sorkpa Agbleze, the NDC Volta Regional Communication Officer, and sighted by the Ghana News Agency, stated that Mr Aklorbortu’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service.

“His approach to work is full of humility, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility. His conviction that society could be kinder and more just drove him to work tirelessly for the welfare of others,” he said.

He emphasised that as a politician, Mr Aklorbortu chose to walk among the people, listening to their concerns and standing firm in the face of adversity with dedication to humanity was evident in the policies he shaped and the sacrifices he made which benefited families, friends, and the communities.

Mr Agbleze explained that in times of crisis, Mr Aklorbortu stood tall and chose responsibility over popularity which made him a true leader who led by example and inspired others to do the same which commanded a lot of respect and admiration on him.

“Nicholas Aklorbortu’s life reminds us that true leadership is about serving others, not seeking power or recognition. He showed us that conviction and compassion are not mutually exclusive, but rather, they go hand in hand.”

He continued that as the party and the entire Volta region mourn the passing of Mr Aklorbotu, the public would take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy would live on and the lives he touched, the policies he shaped, and the values he embodied would continue to inspire many to strive for a better world.

He said family, friends, and colleagues would miss Mr Aklorbortu dearly, but his impact would be felt by generations to come and remember him as a champion of justice, a defender of dignity, and a servant of humanity.

He added that,” in the words of Shakespeare, ‘The good that men do lives after them.’ Nicholas Aklorbortu’s good deeds, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire us to serve others with courage and humility.”

Mr Nicholas Aklorbortu, was the Communications Officer of the NDC in South Tongu, who passed away in a tragic motorbike accident on his way from 41st National Framers’ Day celebration held at Ho on Friday, December 5.

The incident occurred when Aklorbortu was on his way to Sogakope and died in a collision involving another motorbike from the opposite direction which led to a fuel fire that engulfed his bike and burnt it beyond recognition while another person was also confirmed dead at the scene.

Mr Aklorbortu, who was also the Volta regional monitoring and evaluation officer for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), was later confirmed dead by the South Tongu Constituency Secretariat.

Some notable NDC members including Mr Kobena Mensah Woyome, the former South Tongu MP, Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, among other party regional and constituency executives have earlier eulogised Mr Aklorbortu and described his death as a big blow to the party.
