The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Independence Power Generators, Ghana (IPGG), Dr Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, has commended the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, for the strategic composition of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Dr Apetorgbor praised the diverse, competent, and experienced team appointed to the ECG Board, which has reflected the clear indication of commitment to addressing the challenges facing the utility.
Dr Apetorgbor, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, about the formation of the new ECG board, expressed confidence that the board would help implement long-term sustainability plans for improved service delivery.
“I believed that the competence of the board members will help provide strategic oversight and direction to ECG to enable the utility to navigate its current challenges,” he said.
Dr Apetorgbor also highlighted the inclusion of Dr Simons Yao Akorli, an analytical fellow with expertise in regulatory economics, finance, and transaction cost economics and trusted that his insight would be instrumental in diagnosing and advising on ECG’s cost structure, which was a major impediment to operational efficiency and financial viability.
