Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister of Interior, has called on new cohort of officers from the Naval Recruit Training School at Nutekpor, in the South Tongu Municipality, to join the Narcotics Control Commission to intensify Ghana’s fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
The graduation ceremony, attended by high-ranking government officials and security personnel, marked the completion of six months of intensive training.
The recruits were equipped with advanced skills in intelligence gathering, drug pharmacology, profiling techniques, document fraud detection, and tactical security operations—core competencies critical to the Commission’s mandate.
“You are now ambassadors of the Narcotics Control Commission and stewards of public trust,” the Minister stated as he congratulated the officers on their achievement and urged them to carry out their duties with integrity and professionalism.
“Let your actions reflect justice, compassion, and the values enshrined in the Commission’s mission. Resist corruption, uphold confidentiality, and honour the oath outlined in Section 35 of the Narcotics Control Commission Act, 2020,” the minister advised.
Mr. Muntaka reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Commission with the requisite logistics, personnel, and policy direction to ensure operational success.
He commended the training instructors for their professionalism, discipline, and dedication to preparing the recruits for the demanding roles ahead.
The Minister emphasized the broader national importance of the Commission’s work, noting that drug-related crimes continue to pose a threat to public health, safety, and social stability.
He encouraged the new officers to be visible in their service and unwavering in their commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s future.
“As you assume your new responsibilities, let every citizen feel your presence and protection. Go forth with purpose, serve with honour, and remember that in protecting our nation from drugs, you are securing the future of Ghana,” he said.
The graduation ceremony represents a strategic step in enhancing the country’s capacity to address the evolving challenges of drug enforcement and control.
The newly graduated officers are expected to play a pivotal role in the Commission’s efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks, reduce drug abuse, and support national security initiatives.
