Nine Black Stars players begin training in Ghana camp in Doha ahead of 2021 AFCON

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Black Stars have officially commenced their training camp in Doha, Qatar, ahead of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Nine players on Sunday, December 26, 2021, trained for the first time under the leadership of head coach Milovan Rajevac at the Aspire Academy grounds in Doha.

The players that trained include Richard Atta and Lawrence Ati Zigi [both goalkeepers], as well as Alexander Djiku, Mubarak Wakaso, David Abagna, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Maxwell Abbey Quaye [all outfield players].

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) reports that Jonathan Mensah, Joseph Paintsil, and Richmond Boakye Yiadom are expected to join the team on Monday evening.

Training will continue today at the Aspire Stadium in Doha as coach Milovan Rajevac hopes for the arrival of more players to camp in order to intensify the team’s preparations for the AFCON in Cameroon next month.
