The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Secretary for the Suhum constituency in the Eastern region, Mr. Ernest Lartey, has revealed that the self-acclaimed Free SHS Ambassador, Samuel Baah, is nothing but a womaniser and extortionist.

His comments come after opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) expressed displeasure over a viral video in which he (Samuel Baah) purported to be an ambassador of government’s flagship Free SHS policy was seen actively campaigning at a second cycle institution.

The NDC in a statement signed by its National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi said” “We in the NDC are appalled and disgusted by this act of political desperation on the part of the Akufo-Addo government, especially at a time when the Ghana Education Service claims to have outlawed all politically-related activities on the campuses of Senior High Schools”.

But, the NPP’s Suhum constituency Secretary, Ernest Larty reacting to the viral video, revealed that the self-appointed Free SHS ambassador, Samuel Baah who is a Literature teacher at the Suhum Presbyterian Senior High School, was once an NDC branch chairman at Koforidua-Okorase.

According to him, Samuel Baah left the NDC and formed a “Shirt & Blouse” campaign prior to the 2016 polls to vote against the NPP.

Mr. Lartey disclosed that, “when the NPP won the 2016 general election, Samuel Baah managed to get close the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Margret Darko Darkwah; and was carrying himself as Personal Assistant and Media Aide to the MCE”.

Revealing what could be the ‘dirtiest secret’, Mr Lartey said Samuel Baah “embezzled some funds and ended up impregnating the MCE’s cousin, which led to his firing”.

He said: Baah, “used his alien to the MCE as an opportunity to brand his car and formed the Free SHS Ambassador team which most of the party members and those at the headteachers in Suhum precisely are not happy about”.

“Since the formation of his group, he has been chasing some government officials for endorsements and also soliciting for money to finance their events”, he revealed.

According to Mr. Larrey, “He has been using the money for his personal gains which the Suhum NPP Constituency Executives got wind of it and ordered him to account for monies extorted from some persons such as the MP for the area, Frederick Opare-Ansah, Michael Luguje, Director General, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority amongst others”.

He also said: “He recently bused over 50 students from Suhum to Koforidua to meet President Akufo Addo during his visit. He attempted to get the attention of the President to speak and take photographs with the students but it didn’t yield results”.

Ernest Lartey who is not happy with the general conduct of Samuel Baah, has accused him of extorting monies from persons from both sides of the political divide to suit his parochial interest.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education in its Press Release on Thursday, October 31, 2019, stated emphatically that the government has not appointed of mandated any persons as Free SHS Ambassadors to go round Senior High School campuses in the country to campaign for President Akufo-Addo.

“The Ministry is conducting investigations to ascertain the facts surrounding the video circulating on social media and other related issues”, the statement added.
