Africa-Press – Ghana. The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its 2022 National Annual Delegates Conference today at the Accra Sport Stadium. More than 6,700 delegates from across the country will decide the fate of 46 aspirants who have been cleared by the Party’s National Elections Committee to partake in the contest.

The positions being contested are: National Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Organiser, Youth Organiser, Treasurer, Women’s Organiser, and Nasara Coordinator.

The successful aspirants will steer the affairs of the Party until 2026, but their topmost task would be to shepherd the NPP to victory in the 2024 general election. The National Chairman and General Secretary contests have been tipped by analysts as the “must watch” races.

The aspirants for the Chairmanship position in the order in which they will appear on the ballot paper are: Gifty Asantewa Ayeh, Sammy Crabbe, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, Akwasi Osei Adjei, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, and Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah.

The aspirants for the General Secretary position are: John Boadu, Iddrisu Musah, Ramseyer Ahmed Agyeman-Prempeh, Frederick Opare Ansah, and Justin Kodua Frimpong.

The Police ahead of the conference had indicated that it would deploy about 3500 security personnel. Some 3,500 security personnel drawn from the Police and Military have been deployed to the venue as well as some vantage points to ensure law and order. Barricades have been placed on the roads from Ministries towards Osu in front and behind of the Accra Sports Stadium to check vehicular movements.
