Africa-Press – Ghana. The Board of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has appointed Madam Pamela Djamson -Tettey, a communications and management specialist, as the Managing Director.

Accra, February 17- The Board of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has appointed Madam Pamela Djamson -Tettey, a communications and management specialist, as the Managing Director. She assumes office on Friday, February 18, 2022.

This follows a Board meeting on, Wednesday, at which Mr Yaw Kwakwa turned in his resignation, to take effect on the close of the day of Thursday, February 17, 2022, a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency Agency in Accra, said. Madam Djamson-Tettey consequently, becomes the third female boss of the GACL after Madam Essie Annor-Sackey and Madam Doreen Owusu – Fianko.

The statement said Madam Djamson-Tettey was assuming the position with more than 25 years of proven track record in Senior Management including nine years in the mining industry, nine years in the manufacturing sector and five years in the power sector.

” Well networked with a confident approach and integrity, she is strategically astute, possesses a strong ability to build sustainable relationships, with excellent interpersonal communication and language skills,” it said.

” Pamela has excellent analytical skills with a strong bias for Political Science, Government Relations, Community Relations, Environment, International relations and Diplomatic Protocols.” From 2001-to 2009 Pamela was the Executive Director and Director Corporate Relations at Diageo Ghana-Guinness Ghana Breweries (GGBL).

As a member of the Board of Directors of GGBL and a key member of the GGBL Executive team, her responsibilities included a wide range of business-critical agendas including; Corporate Communications, Public Policy, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategic Planning, Corporate Brand Reputation, Sustainable Development and key Spokesperson for GGBL.

Madam Djamson – Tettey holds a BA (Cum Laude) degree in International Relations from the United States International University Herts, UK, and San Diego California, USA (1982-1985), Postgraduate Diploma (Merit), Politics & Diplomacy, the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK (1985-1986).

She also holds an MA degree in International Relations, from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK (1986-1987). She is an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana. GACL was registered as a limited liability company in January 2006 but began operations in 2007.

It commenced operations in January 2007 with the specific responsibility for planning, developing, managing and maintaining all airports in Ghana, including Kotoka International Airport (KIA) and five regional airports namely Kumasi, Tamale, Sunyani, Wa and Ho as well as various airstrips.

Its vision is to position Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in airport business in West Africa. The mission is to provide world-class airport facilities and services for the benefit of stakeholders.

The Company is tasked to develop, manage and maintain airports and airstrips in Ghana, facilitate aircraft, passenger, cargo and mail movements and to provide safety and security for aircraft, passengers and cargo in accordance with best international practices.

It is also to coordinate the operations of other agencies that provide support services at the airport to enhance overall efficiency and provide rescue and firefighting equipment and services at airports.

The first Chief Executive Officer was Madam Doreen Owusu-Fianko, second, Mr Charles K. Asare, Mr John Dekyem Attafuah and Mr Yaw Kwakwa, in that order.
