Africa-Press – Ghana. The Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has congratulated the Black Stars for qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A statement issued by the Parliamentary Service to the Ghana News Agency and signed by Dr. Lawrence Kwarteng-Ashia, the Deputy Director, Media Relations, praised the team’s determination, discipline, and patriotic spirit, describing the qualification as a source of immense national pride and a testament to Ghana’s sporting excellence.
“Parliament stands firmly behind you and encourages all Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars with unwavering support and unity.
“We are confident that they will make the nation proud and inspire future generations through their exemplary discipline, teamwork, and resilience,” it said.
The statement emphasized that the Black Stars’ achievement represented more than just sporting success but embodied the collective aspirations and spirit of the Ghanaian people.
“The 2026 World Cup presents an opportunity for Ghana to reaffirm its global reputation in football,” it added.
The Black Stars secured their spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Comoros, marking Ghana’s fifth appearance at the tournament.
The team will join fellow African qualifiers Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and Algeria at the 48-team tournament, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
