The Power Distribution Services (PDS), has disconnected electricity supply to the Suhum Municipal Library in the Eastern Region for owing GH¢3,258.00

The internet connectivity to the centre is also not functioning due to the cut off of the power supply.

For about two years now since the incident happened, residents especially students have stopped patronizing the place, leaving the building abandoned and taken over by weeds and reptiles.

The building has also developed cracks, broken of rivets and lacks logistics, such as books, desks, chairs, computers, among others.

The Municipal Librarian, Dorcas Boadi, when contacted expressed worry over the situation.

According to her, her outfit has made all the effort to get the bills settled but it yields no results.

She said the library needs to be upgraded with current books and other learning materials that can enhance knowledge, something she says has compelled patrons to abandon the facility.

She, however, appealed to the authorities and philanthropists to come to their aid to put the library in good shape.

In a related development, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has also cut off the water supply to the learning center due to some arrears owed.
