PFAG cautions Ghanaian players on sports betting

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) Head of Player Relations Yusif Alhassan Chibsah had advised Ghanaian footballers to desist from betting when they sign professional contracts with clubs.

The former Ghana international speaking in an interview disclosed that betting has become cancer in the local game which must be eradicated by all stakeholders.

Yusif Chibsah stated players sign contracts which barreds them from engaging in any form of sports betting.

“We as PFAG continue to advise the players that any contract they signed there is a clause that prevents them from engaging in sports betting and match manipulation”, he told Happy FM.

“If they allow people to deceive them it is their career they are jeopardizing. They should be careful and stay away from betting”.

He also urged the Ghana Football Association to take a giant step in dealing with rumors’ of fixed matches in the domestic top-flight league.

“When it comes to betting and you can’t rely on rumors unless facts”

“We all know what is happening, the Inter Allies and Ashantigold betting issue. We have spoken to some of the players and hope the matter will be brought to a finality”.

The Ghana Football Association is still investing the betting scandal which rocked the Ghana Premier League last season involving Ashantigold SC and Inter Allies.
