Africa-Press – Ghana. The Northern Regional Police Command has intensified public education on personal, domestic and community safety as part of measures to ensure a peaceful festive season in the Tamale Metropolis.
A team of Police personnel, led by the Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent George Appiah-Sakyi, visited Winners Chapel Ghana and the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Kingdom Temple, to engage congregants on crime prevention and safety consciousness.
Chief Superintendent Appiah-Sakyi underscored the importance of improving lighting systems in homes and communities to enhance visibility and deter criminal activities, noting that well-lit environments made it easier to detect suspicious movements.
He advised households to replace worn-out door locks to prevent unauthorised access and cautioned residents to ensure their compounds were free of tools or implements that criminals could use to cause harm.
Touching on cyber safety, he urged congregants to use strong passwords on electronic devices and online accounts, and to be circumspect about the kind of information they shared on social media to avoid falling victim to cybercrime.
Chief Superintendent Appiah-Sakyi assured members of the public that the Police had deployed several patrol teams across the Tamale Metropolis to safeguard lives and property during the festive period, and appealed to residents to cooperate with the Police by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and detection.
He shared the Police toll-free emergency number, 18555, and encouraged the public to make use of it whenever the need arose.
He also reminded residents of the dry season and advised them to take precautionary measures in the use of fire to prevent outbreaks.
Reverend Prince Lewis Fiadjoe, Senior Pastor of ICGC, Kingdom Temple, commended the Ghana Police Service for engaging with the congregations and assured them of their readiness to comply with the safety tips shared.
