Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams has been nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to serve as the Minister of Sports and Recreation.
His nomination was announced in the President’s Mahama third batch of ministerial appointments which was released on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Kofi Adams who is the Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency is expected to go through the vetting process as his qualification for the position would be assessed.
Kofi Adams, who is an ardent boxing follower, would face a stern task to improve the declining status of sports in the country, if he is approved by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
Profile of Kofi Adams
Born on May 2, 1975, Kofi Adams comes from Teteman, a town in the Jasikan District in the Oti Region of Ghana. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology with emphasis on Epidemiology of Parasitic Diseases.
He is currently serving a second-term as Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency in the Oti region.
Adams served as a tutor at Adisadel College. He later served as the Spokesperson and Director Of Public Affairs for Flt Lt. Jerry John Rawlings (Rtd), a former President Of Ghana.
He has served as Deputy General Secretary in the past for the National Democratic Congress. In December 2014, he was elected as National Organizer for the party in the National Executive elections.
Adams won the parliamentary bid to represent the National Democratic Congress for the Buem Constituency in the 20202 and eventually got into Parliament with a landslide victory.
