Africa-Press – Ghana. Real Madrid are concerned that star winger Vinicius Junior is not being protected by referees and that he receives too many rough challenges.
The Brazil international has taken his game to another level this season, finally emerging as one of Los Blancos’ star men after a slow start to life in Europe.
Now one of La Liga’s premier players, Vinicius has been on the end of many tough tackles this season, and Real Madrid chiefs are unhappy with how he’s being treated.
AS report that the higher-ups at the Santiago Bernabeu were annoyed at how the Brazilian was officiated in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Villarreal. Veteran centre-back and former Real stalwart Raul Albiol elbowed Vinicius in the area while defending a free-kick, and Dani Parejo’s slap on the forward also went unpunished.
Only Celta Vigo’s Javi Galan has been fouled more often than Vinicius in La Liga this season and there is a feeling that the 21-year-old is being ‘hunted’ by his competitors.
But this treatment certainly hasn’t slowed Vincius’ production, however. He’s registered 12 goals and five assists in 22 league games so far this season, with Real leading the table.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are four points clear of Sevilla and return to Champions League action this week against PSG.
