Residents Welcome Livelihood-Boosting Policies in Mid-Year Budget

Africa-Press – Ghana. Some residents of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan area have expressed optimism about Ghana’s future following the announcement of pragmatic policies and interventions in the 2025 mid-year budget.

They are hopeful that the new measures, if effectively implemented, will lead to improved living standards and economic growth. However, they also urged the government to seal revenue leakages, advance digital payment systems, reduce face-to-face interactions in public services, and embrace paperless operations to enhance fiscal discipline.

The sentiments were shared following the budget presentation by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Mr. John Aguiar, a business owner, emphasized the need for timely completion of all ongoing infrastructure projects in the Western Region. He also called for controlled pricing of goods and essential commodities to ease the burden on citizens.

“Infrastructure development is important, but so is investment in livelihood intervention programmes that directly support the people,” he said.

Madam Felicity Biney, another business owner, stressed the importance of stabilizing the foreign exchange rate and increasing the allowable amount for international business travel, saying such policies would help expand businesses and strengthen the economy.

She noted, “If the roads are good and the business climate is friendly, it creates a ripple effect that benefits every sector of the economy.”

Other residents urged the government to remain committed to its promises, policies, and interventions, warning that slacking on implementation could derail progress.

Key projects earmarked for the Western Region under the budget include the completion of the Paa Grant Roundabout, Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, the Takoradi Market Circle, the Nkrumah Roundabout Interchange, and various Sekondi-Takoradi township roads.
