Africa-Press – Ghana. The 2025 Rising Queens event, which took place on Saturday celebrated Ghana’s brightest female chess stars for their outstanding roles in advancing the sport.
The event, championed by Mindsport Ghana, in partnership with the Ghana Chess Association, the FIDE Women’s Commission, and the Africa Chess Confederation appreciated individuals whose efforts have significantly contributed to the growth of chess.
It featured a dynamic mix of awards presentations, personal chess journey sharing, rapid chess tournaments and meaningful networking opportunities.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of appreciation awards to outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of women’s chess in Ghana.
On the sidelines of the event, a rapid chess tournament was organized with Jeshurun Tandon and Christiana Naa Merley Ashley were crowned champions.
The awardees were Ashley Christiana Naa Merley, Dr. Ayiku Angela Naa Amerley, Tobi Felix Abena, Maud Benson Esi, Dzidzor Dotse, Gertrude Banini, Ridham, Betty Dzima, Keziah George and Hephzibah T. Tandoh.
The rest included Tiwaa Abena Appau, Ayesha Osman, Aquah Araba Mensima, Majid-Michel Lady Rowena, Pearl Addo, Cassandra Biney, Sumya Dotse, Richael Ashley and Audrey Ayiku.
The event was graced by Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Madam Veronica Commey, Deputy Director General of the NSA, representatives from the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), and other dignitaries
