Africa-Press – Ghana. Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has stated that he wants to question Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about why he keeps playing Fred in the middle of the park.
The 28-year-old Brazil international has been a vital figure for Solskjaer during his time in charge, making his 12th appearance of the season in Saturday’s Manchester derby.
After his team’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City, Fred struggled to make an impact, and Keane claimed after the game that he wanted to ask his former teammate why the midfielder is still selected.
“If Ole walked in here now, I’d grab him and say ‘why are you playing Fred in the middle of the park?’…. it is a huge position for Manchester United,” Keane told Sky Sports News.
In Man United’s last two home league defeats to Liverpool and Man City, Fred has played the entire 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, since joining the Red Devils from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018, the South American has made 132 appearances for the club.
