Africa-Press – Ghana. Russia-based Ghanaian striker Joel Fameyeh has donated to victims of the deadly explosion in Appiatse, a small town in the Western Region. Fameyeh, who plays for top-flight side FC Orenburg and has been capped four times by Ghana, donated relief items worth 10,000 Ghana cedis. The items include veronica buckets, sachet and bottled water as well as cement bags.

The explosion, which occurred on Jan. 20, claimed 13 lives, injured many people and caused immense structural damage. A police investigation found that a vehicle carrying mining explosives owned by Maxam to a gold mine collided with a motorcycle and exploded.A support fund has been set up in a bid to reconstruct the town. Some 750 residents, including survivors of the explosion, have been relocated to a temporary camp in the nearby town of Bogoso-Kojokrom.The 24-year-old has 10 goals in 17 games this season. He was not included in Ghana squad for the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations.
