Africa-Press – Ghana. In a recent report released by the Federal Customs Service (FCS), it has been revealed that Russia’s exports to Africa saw a significant surge in 2023, doubling its share compared to the previous year.
The report indicates that Russian exports to Africa experienced a remarkable 43% increase in value, reaching $21.2 billion in 2023, up from $12.1 billion in the previous year. This surge in exports to Africa stands in contrast to a 40% decrease in exports to the Americas region, which amounted to $12.2 billion.
The Americas macro-region, which comprises the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and North America, witnessed a notable decline in Russian exports, highlighting the shifting trade dynamics of Russia in the global market.The report further highlights that China, India, and Turkey emerged as the primary trade partners for Russia in the past year, underscoring the evolving trade relationships between nations.
With a total trade turnover of $710.1 billion in 2023, it is revealed that Asian countries accounted for 51% of Russia’s trade, followed by European countries at 23%, the Middle East at 11%, neighboring countries at 8%, American countries at 4%, and Africa at 3%.
