Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace to seek his blessings and support as the Ministry works to revive key sports infrastructure in the Ashanti Region.

The visit was part of the Minister’s working tour of the region, which included inspections of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the long-abandoned Nyinahin Sports Complex.

The tour was aimed at assessing the current state of sports facilities and identifying areas that require urgent rehabilitation and investment.

Briefing the Asantehene on the outcome of the inspections, the Minister noted that the revival of sports infrastructure in the region was a priority assignment from President John Dramani Mahama.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to addressing long-standing challenges in sports development and solicited the King’s guidance and support.

Mr. Adams was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and officials from the National Sports Authority.

The delegation discussed key issues hindering the growth of sports in the region, stressing the need for collaboration among stakeholders to harness local resources and promote sustainable development.

The Asantehene pledged his full support for the Ministry’s efforts and provided thoughtful counsel, urging unity and coordinated action to restore the region’s sporting glory.

He emphasised that sports play a critical role in youth development and national unity and called on all stakeholders to contribute to the revival agenda.

Mr Adams, inspired by Otumfuo’s encouragement, reiterated the government’s resolve to restore the Ashanti Region’s pride through the revitalisation of sports facilities.

“Together, we will restore the pride of the region,” the Minister declared, underscoring his team’s commitment to delivering tangible results.
