Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Kwasi Asante Boateng, the Sunyani West Municipal Chief Executive says the Assembly is finalising modalities for the construction of standard market, to boost the implementation of the 24-hour economy.
He said the Assembly had conducted engagements extensively, saying with support and agreement from traditional authorities and key stakeholders, acres of land had been acquired and very soon construction works on the market would commence at Chiraa in the Municipality.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Fiapre in the Municipality, Mr Boateng said the Assembly was determined to create a conducive business environment, to spur economic growth and development and create job opportunities for the youth too.
He said the market was sited at Chiraa “simply because Odomase is the Municipal capital and so all the departmental heads are in Odomase”.
“When you go to Nsoatre, they have the District Court, Fire and Ambulance Service respectively. Fiapre is also endowed with two established Universities, and it is only Chiraa among the five major towns that has nothing to boost with,” Mr Boateng explained.
He described the 24-hour economy as a laudable economic intervention, adding that the Assembly required everybody’s support for the establishment of the market to open the local economy and create job opportunities for the people.
Mr Boateng said the market would further increase the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund to push the development of the municipality.
