Africa-Press – Ghana. Indonesia badminton team dominated 2025 Senior-Level Badminton Championships held at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana.
In total, Team Indonesia won five gold and three silver medals in the Senior-Level of the Ghana Grand Slam badminton categories.
The 21-day Badminton fiesta festival ended on Sunday August 17, 2025 featuring continental badminton stars across78 countries participated in the AirBadminton, All-Africa U-15, J.E. Wilson U-19 and the Senior-Level Ghana Grand Slam Championships.
The event showcased world-class badminton talents with powerhouse Indonesia dominating at the senior-level, while Ghana made its marked across several categories.
In the Mixed Double categories, Indonesians Bimo Praseetyo and Arlya Nabila Thesa Munggaran won gold, followed by their counterparts M. Nawaf Khoiriyansyah and Nahya Muhyifa, whereas Indians Dhruv Rawat and Maneesha K won bronze medals.
In the Women’s doubles categories, Indonesians Isyana Syahira Meida and Rinjani Kwinara Nastine won gold, followed their counterparts Nabila Cahya Permata Ayu and Nahya Muhyfa whereas Ghana’s Moslena Ama Korama Adu and Rachael Quarcoo won bronze medals.
In the Men’s doubles categories, Anselmus Breagit Fredy Prasetya and Pulung Ramadhan of Indonesia won gold, followed by Abinash Mohanty and Ayush Pattanayak of India and the bronze medals went to Dmitriy Panarin and Makhsut Tajibullayev of Kazakhstan.
In the Women’s singles categories, Indonesian Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan won gold, followed by Indian Aalisha Naik, and Dounia Pelupessy of Switzerland won bronze medals.
In the Men’s singles categories, Indonesian Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo won gold, followed by Dmitriy Punarin of Indonesia won silver and Tarun Reddy Katam of India won bronze.
At the AirBadminton event, team Ghana secured five medals Including three gold, one silver, and one bronze.
The All-Africa U-15 Championship Ghana bagged five gold and one silver.
The J.E. Wilson U-19 Juniors team Ghana won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medals.
The series climaxed with the Senior-Level categories where Ghana added two bronze medals, bringing the nation’s total oftwenty-one medals across five grand slam competitions.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Evans Yeboah, the President of Ghana Badminton Association, described the event as a landmark success.
“We saw countries like Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Portugal, Thailand etc participated in the competition since July 3rd this year it’s been an awesome journey.”
He also praised “Ghana’s rising stars Moslena Ama Adu-Minta and Adu Mintah who are, currently Africa’s No. 1 in junior mixed doubles, and other junior pairs ranked No. 2 on the continent.”
He expressed confidence that Ghana’s strong showing would serve as a springboard for upcoming global competitions, including the World Junior Championships in India next month and the upcoming African Youth Games in Angola this December as well as the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal.
The conclusion of the 21-day badminton series not only showcased Ghana’s organisational capacity but also reaffirmed the country’s place as an emerging force in African badminton.
