Tema Canoe Owners Applaud President Mahama for Nominating Ebi Bright as MCE

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Canoe and Fishing Gear Owners Association of Ghana in Tema, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for nominating Madam Ebi Bright as Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Tema Metropolitan Assembly.

“This historic nomination marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first female to be nominated in Tema as the Metropolitan Chief Executive in the history of local governance, this is laudable and therefore we render our praise and appreciation,” said a statement issued by Mr. Nii Adjierteh Quaye, National Best Marine Canoe Fisherman.

“We, the Tema Canoe and Fishing Gear Owners Association of Ghana (CaFGOAG),

welcome this appointment, recognizing the vital role women play in our fishing

Activities,” the statement said.

The statement expresseded confidence in Madam Bright’s appointment to foster collaboration with their sector

Minister to promote their work and address their challenges especially the obnoxious and abysmal landing of Small Pelagics and Juvenile Fishes in recent times, which had brought an immersive hardship on the Artisanal Fishers, adequate and equitable supply of Premix and other Fisheries relief items devoid of politics at the Canoe Basin.

It said with her new role, Madam Bright could effectively convey their plight directly to the Presidency, ensuring their struggles and plights are addressed.

“We look forward to working with her to promote sustainable fishing practices,” the statement said.

“Enhance our fishing methods and ensure environmental sustainability, develop better infrastructure to support our fishmongers and Fisheries activities.

“Increase market access for our fish products, benefiting our community.”

The statement said they commend President Mahama on this historic nomination and that they look forward to Madam Bright’s leadership in addressing their concerns and making Tema Shine again.
