The highest bidder will win NPP primaries – Adum Barwuah

Africa-Press – Ghana. A leading member of ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Oheneba Kofi Adum Barwuah, believes the highest bidder will win the upcoming parliamentary primaries on Saturday, January 27.

According to him, it is abundantly clear that the NPP primaries will go in favour of the highest bidder as it would be an “auction house”.

Speaking in a telephone interview on GhanAkoma on Akoma FM 87.9MHz in Kumasi with William Evans-Nkum, Adum Barwuah said “everybody knew that the right people will not be voted by the party’s delegates”.He bemoaned the influence of money in the just ended presidential primaries of the party.

He pointed out that, majority of the outcome of the NPP parliamentary primaries will be influenced by money and not competence or ability to impact good governance in the country.

He stated that money has compromised the value of elections in Ghana.“What we are going to do is an auction, not an election because the highest bidders will win, as I have been saying, whoever pays the highest money will win. But in some cases if the people are really angry with you it does not matter how much money you pay, they will still vote again you,” he stated.
