Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana international Thomas Partey is really in his prime this season, and Arsenal fans are now starting to see why the club splashed out £45 million to sign the midfielder from Atletico Madrid.
Partey has been at the North London club since October 2020. However, he struggled with a number of injuries in the early stages of his time with the Gunners, which did not help him settle into his new team.
Now recovered, the Ghanaian is now proving to be a real leader in Mikel Arteta’s team. He features alongside Granit Xhaka as the two deepest players in midfield. The duo allows the likes of Emile Rowe Smith, Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka to play further up the pitch.
Astonishingly, Arsenal have not finished inside the top four of the Premier League standings since 2016. That said, they now have an excellent chance of finishing in one of those places at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, which will ensure they return to the glory of the Champions League.
The Gunners are currently priced at odds of +600 in the outright soccer betting markets for a top-four finish this season. Their only defeat in February and March came against Liverpool, a team who are also on an excellent run and certainly in contention for the Premier League title.
Comparisons With Patrick Vieira
Arsenal fans are starting to make comparisons with Partey and one of their greatest ever midfielders, Patrick Vieira. Just like their former captain, the Ghanaian has been dominant in midfield for his team this season.
Partey has shown he has all the assets required to excel in his position. He is strong on the ball, he is able to pick out the right pass and also possesses composure. Arteta has shown a lot of confidence in the 28-year-old, and it is easy to see why that has been the case.
