Thomas Teye Partey was part of the Athletico Madrid team that endured a frustrating night in their 0-0 drawn game against Villareal at the Estadio Ceremica.
The Madrid based side were held to a draw in their Spanish La liga game on Friday night.
Thomas Partey did not play the entire duration as he was hooked in the 59th minute for Vitolo as they searched for that elusive goal that would have given them all the three points.
Pressure is mounting on Argentine coach Diego Simeone as his side are winless in their last four games across all competitions.
A win would have taken madrid into the top four but they could only manage a point instead of all three.
Atletico, have failed to win at Villarreal since April 2015, are sixth in the table on 26 points from 16 games, five behind Liga leaders Barcelona who have two games in hand.
Atleti’s 126 million euro (108.24 million pounds) signing Joao Felix failed to convert any of his six chances, including a glaring miss in the first half where he was unmarked in the box but somehow sent the ball over the bar from close range.
Atletico drew a blank in a 1-0 defeat at home to Barcelona in La Liga and in losing by the same scoreline at Juventus in the Champions League in their previous two games and coach Diego Simeone said the poor results were affecting his players.
