Tottenham’s Persis Martha Oteng included in Ghana squad for World Cup qualifiers

Africa-Press – Ghana. Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women’s forward, Persis Martha Oteng, has received her first call-up to the Ghana squad for the 2024 U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying games against Eswatini.

Although Oteng was born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, she was raised in England. As a result, she was eligible to represent any of these three countries. However, she recently expressed her commitment to playing for Ghana. Following a careful evaluation, Black Princesses coach Yussif Basigi has included her in the list of 30 players invited to participate in the upcoming games against Eswatini.

Black Princesses are set to face Eswatini in the first leg on Friday, November 10, followed by the return leg on Friday, November 17. The 17-year-old Oteng will be eager to play a key role in both matches as Ghana seek their seventh consecutive World Cup qualification.

Oteng currently plays for Tottenham Hotspurs U-21 and has displayed impressive form for the club’s youth team this season, having scored three goals. She has been associated with the North London club for several years, including a loan spell.

Last season, she was on loan at London Seaward Football Club, returning to Tottenham for the 2022/23 campaign, where she has consistently showcased her talent.
