Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Mathias Kwame Alagbo, popularly known as Kabila, the Volta Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed his dedication to expand opportunities and empowerment for young people across the region.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Ho, Mr Alagbo outlined a number of interventions undertaken since the NDC returned to power in 2025.
He said he had personally facilitated scholarships for 144 students and helped secure direct employment for 31 youths in various sectors.
Beyond these efforts, he said about 2,400 young people were currently enrolled in skills development through the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), with the aim of equipping them to become economically productive and financially independent.
Mr Alagbo noted that many youths in the region have also been recruited into the Community Policing Assistant (CPA) initiative, the Prison Service, and other government institutions, broadening their access to stable employment.
He said the government’s “Big Push” flagship programme is expected to create even more job openings for the youth, especially through major infrastructural projects such as the Ho–Aflao Road and the Ho–Atimpoku road construction works.
Mr Alagbo, who has served as the Regional Youth Organiser since 2018, encouraged the youth not to remain idle or expect sudden opportunities but to actively engage in productive ventures while taking advantage of the support programmes available.
He assured them of continued advocacy and support, stressing that “better days are ahead” for the Volta youth.
