Africa-Press – Ghana. Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo insists that the Black Stars have a clear plan in place to secure a spot in the next edition of the World Cup.

The Black Stars are fourth in Group I of the qualifiers and will need to play above themselves to be on course for a place in the 2026 World Cup.

Ahead of their games against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR), Ghana are preparing to secure positive results.

Despite the team’s poor form including a dismal showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Semenyo is hopeful they can turn their fortunes around and potentially make it to the next World Cup.

“Personally, I don’t feel pressure. We know what we want to do, and we know what to do so that we can qualify for the World Cup. These two games are important and we need to win”, he said.

Semenyo has been in fine form for Bournemouth this season and looks poised to lead Ghana in attack for the World Cup qualifiers, with Inaki Williams sidelined due to injury.

The 24-year-old expressed his belief in the two players to earn debut invitations Ibrahim Sulemana and Brandon Thomas-Asante, believing their presence is key for the team moving forward.

“For you to be called to the national team then it means you’re not doing bad so we are expecting them to add some extra quality to the team and hopefully contribute to some goals and wins”.

The Black Stars will continue their training session on Saturday at the Legon Stadium, as they prepare ahead of a crunch encounter in Bamako with Mali on June 6, 2024.
