Africa-Press – Ghana. Goals from Maafia Nyame and Jennifer Kankam helped Faith Ladies FC to beat Police Ladies 2-0 in the match-day eight of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) played at the Dansoman Park on Wednesday.
Nyame managed to put her side ahead two minutes into the second half before Kankam doubled the lead in the 64th minute handing Police Ladies their third loss this season.
The first half of the game went goalless as the home team, Faith Ladies created most chances but could not make good use of their decent opportunities.
Faith Ladies came back stronger into the second half as Nyame tapped in a low cross from a close range to put her side in the lead. The home team kept on pushing the ball into the half of Police Ladies, using the wings as an easy route to break the defense of the visitors.
Kankam Yeboah completed the task in the 64th minute as she slotted in a cross from Gifty Dwamena to seal the win for Faith Ladies. Police Ladies dominated proceedings from the 70th minute in search of a consolation goal but the Faith Ladies defense were up to the task with their goalkeeper, Bansah Anabel pulling some excellent saves.
Police Ladies kept on possessing the ball till the final whistle was blown. Faith Ladies have now recorded their third win of the season with 11 points to their credit, two points ahead of Police Ladies.
