Africa-Press – Ghana. Yara Ghana Limited has been crowned Agribusiness of the Decade at the prestigious Millennium Excellence Awards 2025, held under the royal patronage of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.
The award recognises the company’s decade-long leadership, innovation, and impact in transforming Ghana’s agricultural landscape.
The honour is a testament to Yara Ghana’s consistent efforts in delivering crop nutrition solutions, advancing sustainable agricultural practices, and empowering farmers across the country.
Since its establishment in 2007, the company has played a pivotal role in driving national food security and boosting the socio-economic wellbeing of farming communities.
“This award is not just for Yara Ghana, it belongs to the hardworking farmers who rise every morning to grow the food that feeds our nation,” said Madam Theresa Randolph, Country Manager of Yara Ghana, after receiving the award.
“We are humbled and honoured. This award goes to our team, our partners, and everyone who believes agriculture can be a force for economic development,” he added.
Yara Ghana’s recent milestones include the widely lauded “Yara Grow Ghana” initiative, launched in 2022 in response to global fertilizer shortages triggered by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
As part of this effort, Yara International ASA donated USD 20 million worth of fertilizers, equivalent to 360,000 bags of YaraMila Actyva to support over 100,000 smallholder farmers.
The initiative reduced input costs per acre by 33.3%, improved farmer livelihoods, and helped stabilize food production in Ghana during a critical period.
The Grow Ghana initiative fostered long-term benefits, including job creation for over 500 youth, enhanced agronomic training, increased crop productivity, and the development of more resilient and sustainable farming systems.
The program has been cited as a model for enhancing food system resilience across the African continent.
“Our vision is to grow a nature-positive food future through environmentally sustainable production systems,” Mr. Randolph added.
As the agricultural sector continues to evolve amid challenges like climate change and resource constraints, Yara Ghana’s approach to collaboration, innovation, and sustainability positions it as a leader not only in Ghana but across Africa.
The Millennium Excellence Awards is one of Africa’s most outstanding platforms for celebrating outstanding contributions to sustainable development and socio-economic transformation.
