Youth in Anlo Constituency Receive Artificial Intelligence Training to Bridge Digital Gap

Africa-Press – Ghana. Some young people in Anlo Constituency have undergone a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) training, aimed at deepening digital literacy and fostering innovation at the grassroots level.

The training spearheaded by Mr Richard Kwami Sefe, the Member of Parliament for Anlo Constituency, is a bold and visionary move to equip constituents with 21st-century digital skills.

The initiative, organised in collaboration with the African Diaspora Central Bank (ADCB), AI Prompt-Ghana, and the Vanuatu Trade Commission Ghana, marked a significant step in narrowing the digital divide across rural and peri-urban communities in the Volta Region.

Held at the Tegbi ICT Centre from Wednesday, May 7 to Thursday, May 8, 2025, the workshop drew over 60 participants, including teachers from both basic and second-cycle schools, students, and corporate workers and professionals.

The sessions, led by seasoned and expert facilitators such as Mr. Prince Dzramado and Mr. Peter Afolabi, focused on core areas such as Prompt Engineering, AI Ethics, and AI Competency.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Sefe said, “The training was not only a response to the global AI surge but a strategic investment in human capital. Anlo must not be left behind in the digital revolution. We are rising with knowledge, technology, and unity,” Mr Sefe told.

Mr. Sefe praised the efforts of the sponsors and facilitators for their role in making the event a success, adding “We are grateful to Ambassador Prof. Hugh Aryee, the initiator of the AI Africa Project, whose vision for inclusive technological empowerment helped lay the foundation for this great initiative. Together, we are laying the foundation for a more informed, tech-savvy Anlo.”

Mr Godknows Ahiagba, a professional teacher, who participated, applauded the initiative and called on his colleague teachers to embrace the idea. “Technology advancement has come to stay, and all must embrace it holistically; everything now is driven by advanced technology, from commerce to education, the knowledge acquired will equip me as a teacher and will help transform my students,” Mr Ahiagba said

The momentum now shifts to other Districts in the Region, including the neighbouring Keta Municipality, where a similar AI workshop is expected soon. The Keta edition will build upon the Anlo experience, with an expanded focus on generative AI, content development, and digital problem-solving.

The training workshops in the Region underscore a broader national movement to decentralise Ghana’s digital transformation agenda, ensuring that underserved communities are not left behind in the fast-evolving digital economy.

As digital innovation becomes increasingly central to economic development, initiatives like these are proving essential in preparing Ghana’s youth and workforce for the demands of the future.

Participants were introduced to a range of practical AI tools with applications in education, entrepreneurship, commerce, communication, and creative problem-solving.

Many participants described the training as eye-opening and worthy of the moment.
