Africa-Press – Ghana. The Zambia U-20 Women’s national team’s chances of making it to the Costa Rica U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup will this afternoon face it’s biggest threat yet when they welcome Ghana’s Black Princesses.
The Young Copper Queens thrashed Malawi 8-1 in the second round to set up this thrilling encounter against Ghana.
Zambia coach Charles Haalubono has declared his lasses ready for the match.
“We have prepared very well; the camping was okay. I think we have done everything which was supposed to be done. We are ready for the game,” he said.
“Ghana have been at the past five editions of the FIFA World Cup, that tells a story that they are a very good team and very strong. You know football the way it is, we have prepared. Our girls are fighters on the pitch, they know what we want, and everyone is set. We will not look at names that is why we have been training, we will fight.”
Meanwhile Skipper Evarine Susan Katongo says the fans will be a big motivation for the team.
“The preparations have been going very well and everyone has confidence that we are going to win the game. You can see that the morale is high, we are going to beat Ghana tomorrow,” she said.
“We will get motivation from the fans. We need their support to be able to win. It will not be an easy game; Ghana has a strong side. We must work extra hard to win this game. we need the support from the fans to motivate us and encourage us.”
Evarine Susan Katongo is expected to pull the strings in midfield with Loveness Kalunga protecting the back four.
Eneless Phiri is expected to lead the attack alongside Siomala Mapepa while Ruth Ngoma, Agness Phiri and Elessy Chilqndula offer options.
Esther Siamfuko who recently returned from an injury is expected to partner Bertha Imponene while Judith Solo and Martha Katila Banda will start on either side of defense.
Hasaacs Ladies players are expected to dominate the Ghana team with Evelyn Badu as the architect of their hunt for glory.
The return leg is in Accra on December 18 with the winner over two legs qualifying to the final round.Only two representatives from Africa will be at the Costa Rica FIFA World Cup.
Today’s game will kick off at 15:00 hours with tickets being sold at Pick’n’ Pay Levy Junction and Webticket at Omega Mall in Northmead.
