Africa-Press – Ghana. The atrocities committed against civilians in the Ukrainian town of Bucha, were no isolated incidents, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, told the UN Security Council in New York on Tuesday.

“The world has now seen what Russia has done in Bucha, but the world has not yet seen what they have done in other occupied cities and regions of our country,” Zelensky said via videolink.

“Bucha is unfortunately just one of many examples of what the occupiers have done,” Zelensky continued, saying that the Russian actions were no different to those of terrorists, and were the worst war crimes since World War II.

Russia must be held accountable for Bucha, Zelensky demanded. The Ukrainian president showed the Security Council a video and photos of atrocities and described the crimes in detail.

Russia’s UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya also addressed Tuesday’s Security Council meeting, calling the accusations against the Russian military “unfounded” and stressing that they hadn’t been confirmed, “by any eyewitnesses.”

Nebenzya called the entire atrocity “lies” and repeated the unfounded accusation that the Ukrainian military was using civilians as human shields. The bodies shown in photos and videos from Bucha were not there, when the Russian military withdrew, he said, claiming there was video evidence to support that.
