Crystal Palace fans applaud Jordan Ayew despite failing to score

Crystal Palace failed to grab all three points last Saturday in their Premier League game at Selhurst Park against Wolverhampton Wanderers who have had an underwhelming season so far.

Palace took the lead through a Leander Dendoncker own goal but deep into injury time Diogo Jota grabbed an equalizer for the visitors to break the hearts of Crystal Palace fans.

Jordan Ayew was impressive through out his stay on the pitch before been replaced by Christian Benteke in the 69th minute.

The Ghanaian international worked tirelessly up front for the Eagles, coming deep to help out his team-mates and occupying defenders with his selfless running off the ball.

And in the week that Roy Hodgson spoke of how much he, the coaching staff and the players appreciate Ayew, the fans showed their appreciation for the 28-year-old.

When he was substituted for Christian Benteke just after the midway point of the second half, the Selhurst Park faithful sang his name with gusto and gave him a roaring reception as he made his way around the pitch back to the dugout.

He was the player of the month for Palace in August, and it is clear that he is the Eagles’ preferred option up front, with frustration growing among the fans after his replacement Benteke missed a good chance to seal victory following his introduction.

Indeed, there were some fans on social media after the game questioning the decision to take Ayew off, although he had just been booked prior to the substitution.
