Africa-Press – Kenya. The Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company has released a schedule of water rationing in Kibera and Lang’ata as it works on securing the Kabete-Lang’ata main pipeline from illegal connections.
The company said in a statement on Friday the reinforcement of the pipeline will interrupt the supply of piped water to Kibera and Mugumoini wards until Friday, August 18.
“During this period, we have to disconnect unauthorised connections serving the Kibera residents. We endeavor to complete all works by August 18, 2023.”
The company said on Friday it directed water to all directions in Kibera to ensure adequate availability seemingly to allow residents to store the commodity ahead of the impending artificial disconnection.
“We urge our customers to use available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply,” the company said.
It added that it has deployed four tankers to give free water for the next seven days until Friday when normal water supply is expected to have stabilised.
During the shutdown period, NCWSC said it will supply water to the affected areas using an equitable water distribution schedule on diverse dates between 6am and 6pm as per the schedule below.
