Africa-Press – Kenya. Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign and Diaspora Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi on Monday headed to South Sudan for a one-day official visit.

In Juba, Mudavadi is set to meet President Salva Kiir Mayardit whom they will hold bilateral talks.

In a statement from the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Mudavadi will convey a special message from President William Ruto who is on a visit to China.

“The two leaders will further discuss potential areas of shared interest within the framework of the East African Community (EAC),” the statement reads.

Mudavadi has visited Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda for a similar mission this month.

This was after President Ruto handed him the Foreign Affairs and Diaspora docket in the first Cabinet reshuffle.

As the man in charge of Foreign affairs, Mudavadi became the country’s focal point for Kenya’s foreign policy.

He is required to ensure that Kenya’s foreign policy agenda on a peaceful, prosperous and globally competitive Kenya is realized.

The appointment also brought Mudavadi close to Ruto as he is now the President’s principal advisor on foreign matters.

More often, he will be engaging the president on matters concerning foreign policy.

Mudavadi will also remain with most of the duties assigned to him under Executive Order No. 1 of 2023 by President William Ruto.
