Africa-Press – Kenya. Veteran Royal Media Services (RMS) radio presenter Tina Ogal has officially joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Ogal was among several new aspirants who officially joined the party on Tuesday, April 28, in an event presided over by ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo.

During the event, the Radio Citizen presenter declared her interest in contesting for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat, currently held by Babu Owino.

“Veteran radio presenter Tina Ogal joined the party and expressed interest in the Embakasi East Parliamentary seat,” the Oburu Odinga-led party announced.

Her entry into politics has introduced new dynamics in the race for the constituency, which is anticipated to be highly contested as the country’s politics gain momentum.

Ogal is a veteran journalist with over 20 years of experience in the industry, having served as a media personality since 2004, when she first joined the RMS station.

She is widely recognised for her distinctive, authoritative voice and command of the Swahili language, and is also known for engaging the audiences with conversations that resonate with them.

During her tenure at the station, Tina’s hard work and vast experience earned her a promotion as the Acting Head of Radio after Jeridah Andayi left RMS to pursue new endeavours.

Alongside Ogal, other aspirants who joined the party include Bayamin Mahat, who declared interest in the Waberi Ward seat in Garissa County, and Bobby Onunga, who is eyeing the Embakasi Ward position in Nairobi.

The recruitment drive is part of ODM’s broader strategy to expand its political base and attract fresh candidates across the country.

Omanyo reiterated the party’s commitment to opening up democratic space and encouraging wider participation from professionals and community leaders.

“We are committed to opening a democratic space that will encourage as many people as possible to join the party,” said the ODM Secretary General.
