Africa-Press – Kenya. Naivas cemented their lead at the top of the National Super League after a 2-0 victory over Kisumu All Stars at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, on Sunday.

Robert Karisa and Francis Nambute struck in the 57th and 74th minutes for Naivas’ 15th win of the campaign and 49 points in the standings.

Meanwhile, Mara Sugar’s dreams of promotion took a hit as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Mully Children’s Family (MCF) at Awendo Green Stadium.

David Owino and Jihn Mugoi were on the scoresheet for Mara Sugar MCF respectively.

MCF coach Vincent Nyaberi was satisfied with the point away from home.

“It was a very tough game and I’m satisfied with the one point. We would have won had the referee not denied us two penalties,” said Nyaberi, a former Mara Sugar coach.

MCF will host promotion-chasing Mathare United at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos this weekend.

In Mombasa, Mombasa Stars got easy points after Mulembe United failed to show up for their encounter at Mbaraki Sports.

Mombasa Elite and Migori Youth fought to a goalless stalemate at Migori Stadium.

On Saturday, Mathare maintained second place with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Kajiado FC.

Mathare sit second with 46 points with Mara Sugar fourth with 40.

Nairobi United cemented third place after beating visiting Luanda Villa 2-1. Nairobi United have 45 points.

Bottom of the log Silibwet beat fellow strugglers Gusii FC 2-0 at Silibwet Stadium while Darajani Gogo overcame SS Assad 3-2 in a five-goal thriller.

Despite the rare win, Silibwet remain bottom of the table with 19 points from 22 games.
