Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has underscored his administration’s commitment to driving comprehensive development and fostering innovation in Machakos, Kitui and Makueni counties.

In a series of discussions with local leaders, Ruto highlighted several key government projects aimed at transforming the region’s infrastructure and socio-economic landscape.

“I have had productive discussions with leaders from Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni counties on the ongoing government projects in their region,” Ruto said through X on Friday.

One of the focal points of the discussions was the ambitious housing programme designed to address the region’s housing needs.

“We discussed the housing programme, increasing access to power under the Last Mile Connectivity project, and the establishment of digital hubs in every ward across the country,” he said.

On Wednesday, Ruto reiterated his administration’s commitment to accelerating electricity access, recognising it as pivotal to enhancing livelihoods and driving economic growth in the region.

Ruto was speaking during the commissioning of Kimuka Power Substation in Kajiado County.

“The last mile electricity connectivity at the grassroots is one of our government’s priorities to foster business activity across the country,” Ruto said.

Ruto said that the Substation is set to benefit over 600,000 people.

They include those in areas such as Karen, Dagoretti, Kikuyu, Kabete, Ngong, Matasia, Magadi and Ngemwa.
