Africa-Press – Kenya. Davis & Shirtliff, East Africa’s leading water and energy solutions provider, has doubled the production of its in-house electronic products as part of a strategic push to improve access to affordable, reliable water and energy solutions for Kenyans.
The expansion strengthens the company’s local manufacturing capability and supports innovation tailored to the realities of Kenyan and African markets, including cost, reliability and off-grid operation.
Among the latest developments is the Dayliff Prepaid Smart Water Dispenser, an advanced community water solution designed to significantly improve on existing market alternatives.
The dispenser has been optimised to address both functionality and affordability challenges associated with prepaid water systems. Its key features include off-grid power supply options, smart tags for controlled water access and integrated mobile and web applications for system operation and customer recharge.
“A core focus for Davis & Shirtliff has always been the development of new products that respond to real customer needs,” said Philip Holi, Technical Director, Davis & Shirtliff.
“Over the past year, we have made important advances across our portfolio, notably in high-efficiency smart pumps, new chemical products, highly effective water treatment units, and expanded solar solutions under the trusted Dayliff brand.”
The production expansion is further supported by the completion of the Tatu Engineering Centre which is expected to significantly enhance the Group’s production efficiency and engineering capacity, strengthening its ability to develope, test and manufacture advanced solutions locally.
“The new engineering centre will greatly improve our technical resource base and provide an expanded showcase of our extensive product range and enhance the overall customer experience when it opens in the coming months,” added Holi.
In a further milestone, Davis & Shirtliff has also been certified as a Schneider Electric EcoXpert – Power Management partner, confirming its capability to design, deploy and support advanced digital power-management solutions based on Schneider Electric technologies.
The EcoXpert global partner programme recognises integrators with strong technical expertise, quality execution, and a commitment to energy efficiency and reliability.
Through this certification, Davis & Shirtliff joins a select network delivering end-to-end EcoStruxure Power solutions, including advanced metering, monitoring and energysensing technologies.
The company’s expanded local production aligns closely with Kenya’s industrialisation agenda. According to the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, increased local manufacturing, including the production of electronic products, could help double the sector’s contribution to GDP from 7.8 per cent to 15 per cent by 2027, while creating hundreds of thousands of jobs annually.
