“We have had several meetings in the last two months to look for a representative. Every region has representation in the party. Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga left us with no representative in the Nairobi region,” Aladwa said.
“We as 17 constituencies in Nairobi County have proposed to have our EALA MP Winnie Odinga to represent us as deputy party leader,” he added.

Winnie Odinga’s regional legislative career kicked off in late 2022 when she was elected to represent Kenya in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Her election by both the National Assembly and the Senate took place on 17 November 2022, and she was formally sworn in on 19 December 2022 in Arusha, Tanzania.
Her tenure extends for a standard five-year term, running through to December 19, 2027. Winnie’s election to EALA marked a significant step in her public/political career.
This is even as the top organ of ODM endorsed Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga as the new party leader in October 2025. The Central Management Committee in Nairobi, chaired by Oburu, resolved to confirm him as a replacement for his late brother Raila.
The Siaya senator was named as the acting party leader on October 16, 2025, by the National Executive Council (NEC), just a day after the demise of his brother in India, and now the Central Committee has reaffirmed the same.
“This being the first meeting of the committee since the passing of the party leader, the top party organ that we endorse Oburu Oginga as the new party leader and urge the party rank and file to accord him all the necessary support and cooperation to enable him to guide the party through this difficult time,” Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said after the near four-hour meeting.Makadara MP George Aladwa with EALA MP Winnie Odinga at theNairobi Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) branch /GEORGE ALADWA
