UDA Schedules March 28 Nominations for Emurua Dikirr

Africa-Press – Kenya. The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will conduct party nominations on March 28, 2026, for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat and two ward positions.

In a notice issued on March 16, the party said the exercise will also cover Member of County Assembly positions in Porro ward in Samburu West constituency, Samburu county and Endo ward in Marakwet East constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet county

“Notice is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance Party nominations shall be held on Saturday March 28, 2026,” the party said. UDA called on interested aspirants to apply through its online portal, setting a three-day registration window.

“The registration period will commence on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 and close on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 5.00 pm,” the statement read in part.

The party directed all aspirants to first register on its portal before proceeding to pay the nomination fees through an M-Pesa STK push prompted by the system.

“Registration is only considered complete after both registration and payment are successfully done through the portal,” the party said.

Under the fee structure, aspirants seeking the National Assembly ticket will pay Sh250,000 for male candidates and Sh125,000 for female aspirants, youth and persons with disabilities.

Those seeking MCA positions will pay Sh50,000 for male aspirants and Sh25,000 for female candidates, youth and persons with disabilities. UDA further noted that the fees paid are non-refundable.

Payments will be made via M-Pesa paybill number 888092 using the aspirant’s ID number as the account number or through the party’s Equity Bank account.

National Elections Board chairman Anthony Mwaura said the nominations will be conducted in line with party rules. The exercise comes after vacancies were declared in the three seats, setting the stage for by-elections.

The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of area MP Johana Ng’eno in a helicopter crash earlier this month. The Porro Ward became vacant following the death of MCA Patrick Leerte in December 2025 after an illness.

The seat was officially declared vacant on January 5, 2026. Similarly, Endo Ward vacancy followed the death of MCA Jeremiah Kibiwott Toryebe on January 9, 2026, while undergoing treatment in Nairobi.

The seat was officially declared vacant on January 27, 2026. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has already announced the by-election timelines for the affected seats, paving the way for political parties to begin their nomination processes.

According to the commission, nominations will be conducted on April 15 and 16, with the campaign period running from April 15 to May 11. The by-elections will then be held on May 14, 2026, explaining UDA’s move to schedule its party nominations on March 28 to identify candidates ahead of the commission’s deadlines.
