Africa-Press – Kenya. Health CS Aden Duale has urged the Opposition leaders to stop personal attacks on President William Ruto and instead focus on policy matters that directly affect Kenyans.

Duale emphasized the importance of constructive debate on housing, infrastructure development, education reforms, agriculture, universal healthcare, and stabilising the Kenyan shilling.

He spoke at the Sir Ali Muslim Club grounds in Nairobi during Idd ul-Fitr prayers.

Thousands of Muslim faithful gathered at the venue to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadhan.

Duale joined them in prayer and extended Eid Mubarak greetings to the Muslim community both locally and internationally.

He encouraged worshippers to sustain the spiritual discipline and prayerful momentum cultivated during Ramadan, while continuing to care for the less fortunate in society.

Idd ul-Fitr, celebrated worldwide, symbolises gratitude, charity and communal harmony after a month of fasting, prayer and reflection.

Duale used the occasion to call for unity and responsibility in national discourse.

He criticised civil society organisations over double standards, saying they remained silent for over a year and a half as Opposition leaders slandered the President, but were quick to condemn when the President chose to respond.

“Civil society organisations had watched without reaction as Opposition leaders slandered the President. However, they were quick to speak out and condemn the President when he chose to retaliate,” Duale said.

The Health CS said Kenya’s progress depends on tackling pressing policy challenges rather than engaging in personal confrontations.

He highlighted housing and infrastructure development as key areas requiring urgent attention, alongside reforms in education and agriculture.

He further underscored the importance of universal healthcare and stabilising the Kenyan shilling to safeguard livelihoods.

Kenya has faced significant political challenges, particularly in the context of opposition and government relations. The call for a focus on policy rather than personal attacks reflects ongoing tensions in the political landscape. Historically, political discourse in Kenya has often been marred by personal confrontations, overshadowing critical national issues that require urgent attention. The recent emphasis on constructive debate signifies a potential shift towards more collaborative governance, which is essential for addressing the pressing needs of the Kenyan populace.
