The campaign is set to resume nationwide mobilization with public tours

Africa-Press – Kenya. Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed that the Linda Mwananchi website registered nearly 25,000 members within its first week after launch, terming the numbers impressive and politically significant.

In a post shared online, Sifuna said the platform closed the week with just under 25,000 members, highlighting the potential political impact of such a turnout based on past election data.

The senator noted that the figures should be viewed in the context of Kenya’s electoral dynamics, where voter turnout and mobilisation play a crucial role in determining winners in various elective positions.

According to the outspoken leader, the number of registered members on the platform already reflects the voting strength required to secure leadership positions in several parts of the country.

“We closed the week at just under 25k pale lindamwananchi.com. This is impressive, but the perspective is important. 25k will get you elected MCA in almost all the wards in Kenya, MP in a few constituencies, and Senator in Lamu and Isiolo counties, going by 2022 data. Mkae mkijua,” he posted.

“24, 619 people have joined so far.”

His remarks come amid the resumption of the Linda Mwananchi campaign, which is set to resume its nationwide mobilisation after a brief pause, with Sifuna announcing a series of public engagements across key towns.

Sifuna said the campaign will start in Narok on Sunday, March 22, before heading to Nairobi on Friday, March 27, and later to Mombasa on Sunday, March 29.

According to the schedule, the Narok tour is set to run from 10 am to 1 pm, beginning with a church service at Covenant Church International (CCI) in Ntuele, followed by a rally from 2 pm to 5 pm in Narok town.

“We are back. On the road, online, everywhere. This Sunday, after the first mass, let’s meet in Narok. Friday, March 27, Nairobi. Sunday, March 29, let’s meet in Mombasa,” Sifuna said.

He urged supporters, particularly those in Narok, where the caravan begins, to register through the campaign’s online platform to be counted as part of the movement.

The resumption comes days after the team rolled out a digital fundraising and mobilisation platform, allowing supporters to contribute as little as Sh10 while also signing up to participate in campaign activities.

Sifuna said the platform, lindamwananchi.com, attracted thousands of users shortly after going live, signalling strong interest from supporters across the country.

“What a start! Lindamwananchi.com went live yesterday and thousands of you signed up. That’s the energy we need,” Sifuna said in an earlier update.

The senator, however, disclosed that the website had experienced technical challenges following its launch, including what he described as malicious attempts to interfere with its operations.

“Expectedly, there were thousands of malicious attacks on the website as well as hundreds of positive feedback on how we can improve,” he said.

He said the team had temporarily taken the platform offline to address the issues and incorporate user feedback.

Kenya’s political landscape has been shaped by various electoral dynamics, where voter turnout and mobilization are critical for success in elections. The Linda Mwananchi initiative aims to engage citizens and enhance political participation, reflecting a growing trend of digital platforms in political campaigns. This movement aligns with the increasing importance of online engagement in mobilizing support and fostering community involvement in governance issues. As political campaigns evolve, the ability to connect with voters through innovative platforms becomes essential for candidates seeking to secure leadership positions.
