Africa-Press – Kenya. Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Kiaraho has died while receiving treatment.
Reports indicate that the legislator passed away while undergoing medical care, although details surrounding his illness were not immediately disclosed.
Kiaraho’s death was confirmed by the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Member for Ol Kalou, the late MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away today, Sunday, March 29, 2026, at around 20 minutes past 1 am while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” Wetang’ula said.
David Njuguna Kiaraho is a Kenyan politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County since 2013.
Kiaraho was serving his third term as the Member for Ol Kalou Constituency having been first elected to the National Assembly during the 2013 General Elections
He has been re-elected in subsequent general elections, including in 2017 and 2022.
“On behalf of all Members and staff of the National Assembly, and indeed on my own behalf, I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Hon. Kiaraho. In this regard, I have appointed Members to the Funeral Preparation Committee to liaise with the family and coordinate a befitting send-off for the late Kiaraho.
“The team will be led by the Member for Kinangop, the Hon. Kwenya Thuku, MP assisted by the Member for Nyandarua, the Hon. Faith Gitau, CBS, MP and seven (7) other Hon. Members. Further details on this matter will be communicated in due course.”
Kiaraho’s death marks a significant loss to his constituents and the political leadership, coming as he was serving as the area MP.
Before joining politics, and alongside his political career, he has worked as an architect and has been associated with Archgrid Systems as a principal architect since 1994.
In Parliament, Kiaraho has served in various committees, including the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
His areas of focus have included infrastructure development, housing, transport, energy and urban planning.
He has been affiliated with the Jubilee Party during his time in elective politics and is known for his long-standing representation of Ol Kalou Constituency.
